Director's BIO

Kajsa Næss (b. 1970) studied animation at Volda University College in Norway. On graduating in 1996, she founded Mikrofilm together with Lise Fearnley. She is an established director and her films have won prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the Norwegian Short Film Festival, the Norwegian Film Critic award and the Audience award for Leonid Shower. She has also won the award for best music video in the Norwegian Grammy Awards. Her work has been presented at festivals and screenings around the world, and her film Deconstruction Workers was widely distributed in the US and shown at prestigious festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy and Tribeca Film Festival. It’s Up To You (2013) has been screened at more than 35 festivals worldwide, and received prizes like Best Nordic and Baltic Short Film at Fredrikstad Animation Festival and the Human Rights Award given by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture. The film was nominated for Amanda for Best Documentary and for the Golden Dove award at Dok Leipzig. Kajsa is now developing new short films and an animated feature film.
